We Are Back! Crazy to say it's been two almost three years since the last post. 2020 The Rona hit and the entire world was on edge. Then only a few weeks later the race wars almost broke out after George Floyd .. man it was intense. Having my first child through it all and while witnessing a global shift in so many ways, was an experience.
So fast forward to the now. It's more than halfway through 2022 we have somewhat moved passed covid but not really .. however we do have an emerging monkey pox pandemic on the rise now. So we'll see how that shit show plays out. Anyways baby sunø is now toddler sunø and is in full bad bunny mode most of the time. Would love to share pics, but surely most of ya don't care and I respect that. For those who do, the kid is all over my insta.
Now with all of the catching up and pleasantries out the way. Let's get to back to what we are here for .. the content. When it comes to music in 2022, this has probably been my favorite year of releases and so many new dope artist have emerged or risen to their near peak status. Heavy hitters such and Kendrick, Pusha T and Beyonce have released masterpieces after a long hiatus. Some of my personal favorites have also dropped amazing projects this year. Such as The Cool Kids, Joey Badass, Boldy James, Roc Marciano, Vince Staples, Larry June, Action Bronson, Your Old Droog, Domo Genesis, Father and of course Mouce to name a few. If you are not familiar with these names then you need this blog more than ever.
Luckily we passed through the whole shock rap era while the blog was inactive. So, we don't have to get into the Tekashi 69, Lil Pump era of straight foolery. It was weird time man, Kanye meeting with Trump and rocking a MAGA hat everywhere was scary times. The earth is healing and gimmick rap is no longer being pushed to forefront as the public demands more substance and feel good vibes from artists.
However, new threat to artist in 2022 are the Feds. Recently Young Thug and his entire YSL crew have been hit with a RICO and are all locked up without bail until further notice. When I say entire crew I meant everybody, comments even cited that the green dog caught a charge too. This is incredibly sad for so many reasons Their stand out talent Gunna who has nonstop hits and the most non threatening persona is just got caught u in the sauce and now is in lockup awaiting charges. The worse part about this whole ordeal is that more RICO's are on the way, and they are using lyrics as evidence to prosecute. So the cap and dry snitching in raps may have to come to an end,
Okay, so now that we are mostly caught up, we will keep this blog up to date more regularly to shine light on some of my favorite content. To start it back off lets get into just one of my new favorite projects from Danger Mouse and Black Thought from the legendary Roots Crew. This composition of this project is immaculate. With the eerie but smooth production combined with extremely polished highly lyrical bars, there are few collaboration projects that are as hi-quality a this. Also a feature from DOOM always helps.
